EtB4 Competitions
Choreography Competition
This year, in order to give stage to dancers who want a chance to create, we're opening up a choreography competition. You may enter a piece as a team (4 or more individuals), a couple (two individuals), or solo (3 or fewer individuals). An individual may compete in no more than two entries, and they must be different classes (so you could do a solo and a team piece, but not two solo pieces). There will be a $10 entry fee per person, regardless of how many people are in an entry.
In order to ensure high-quality entries, entries must be screened in order to compete on Saturday night. We request that you send us a video by Friday, May 14th at 5pm. If for some reason this is not possible, we'll have a screening session at the event, but this is only for extreme circumstances. The competition will be held at 2am at the Saturday Late Night Dance.
Jazz Blues Jack and Jill
In honor of celebrating the music we dance to, we're going to break up the Jack and Jills into two competitions, based on music. The Jazz Blues J+J will be just what it sounds like: competitors will be paired at random and will dance to anything from New Orleans jazz bands playing blues tunes to the slow ballads of the big bands. The will be a $10 entry fee per person.
The competition will have a standard J+J format. In prelims, competitors will be dance to 3 songs, rotating partners between songs. Competitors will be judged as individuals. In the finals, competitors will be paired at random, then judged as a couple. Couples will dance an all-skate, a jam, and another all-skate, at the judges discretion.
